Description

Virgin of Mount Carmel

The origin of the message of the devotion of the Virgin of Mount Carmel is in England. On Sunday, July 16, 1251, Saint Simon Stock, Superior General of the Carmelite Fathers of the convent of Cambridge, was praying for the destiny of his order, when the Virgin Mary appeared to him.

She was dressed in the Carmelite habit, carrying the Child Jesus in her arms and in her hand the Scapular, which she gave him saying: Receive, my son, this Scapular of your order, which will be from now on a sign of my confraternity, a privilege for you and for all those who wear it.

Whoever dies with it, will not suffer eternal fire. It is a sign of salvation, a refuge in the dangers of body and soul, an alliance of peace and an everlasting covenant.
