Jesus was judged six times before different characters: Annas, Caiaphas, the Sanhedrin, Pilate, Herod and the masses. All of them represent so many attitudes that will condemn, and will be condemned, by the true Judge who presents himself stripped of all external power, but with truth and justice.
Jesus now presents himself without weapons other than the strength of a love that will not stop in the face of injustice, hatred or weakness. Jesus is sentenced to death, and his sacrifice brings redemption to mankind.

This sacrifice of Christ is unique, it gives fullness and surpasses all sacrifices. First of all it is a gift of God the Father himself: it is the Father who gives the Son to reconcile us to himself.
At the same time it is an offering of the Son of God made man who, freely and out of love, offers his life to his Father through the Holy Spirit, to make reparation for our disobedience.
