Description

The Holy Family

The birth of Jesus in Bethlehem was the beginning of this Family, unique and exceptional in the history of humanity; in this Family the Son of God, conceived and born of the Virgin Mother, came into the world, grew up and was educated.

The Holy Family of Nazareth is the school where one begins to understand the life of Jesus, that is, it is the school of the Gospel. Jesus was from the beginning the center of his great love, full of solicitude and affection; it was his great vocation; it was his inspiration; it was the great mystery of his life. In the house of Nazareth he was obedient and submissive.

This obedience of Jesus to Mary and Joseph fills almost all the years of his life on earth and thus constitutes the symbol of that total and uninterrupted obedience which he pays to the Heavenly Father. To the Holy Family thus belongs a relevant part of that divine mystery whose fruit is the redemption of the world.
